• The foam used is a supreme quality CMHR50 kilo foam. It is supported by the finest quality pocket springs and offers maximum durability and comfort.
• This foam cot mattress does not contain any added antimony or phosphorous as advised by SIDS.
• The foam is completely wrapped in a stockinette cover, reducing 'foam grip' and allowing the outer 'SafeTex Plus' cover to be removed (for machine washing) easily without struggling.
• the first Mattress cover is made of Spacetec and Safetex -• Spacetec offers supreme Comfort and cushioning, it is shock absorbing with excellent recovery. Full airflow - the 3D construction reduces heat build up and allows air circulation. Spacetec is fully machine washable, will not de-laminate or breakdown.
• The second mattress cover is made of SafeTex plus which is breathable and water vapour permeable, It will protect the foam from spillage yet allow air through. There is no need for it to be padded as it covers a 50 weight highly supportive foam topper.
• The cover can be machine washed at 60°C - the temperature needed to kill dust mites, and help to avoid baby asthma. When the cover comes out of a fast spin washing machine it is virtually dry - just an airing or a very very light tumble and it is back in use.
• We do not pipe the edge of the cover to make it look pretty (covered by your sheet anyway) this only introduces unnecessary dye into the fabric and increases the cost without any benefit.
• Under the cover is a PU Slider. This fabric has a proven safety track record - , it is completely waterproof and contains no PVC. The purpose of the slider is to ensure that the core of your mattress stays totally clean and free of urine that might cause a bacterial growth inside the mattress core. It will side easily over the stockinette cover so you can position it as your baby grows. (NB we did not make this slider go across the whole of the mattress or it would seriously reduce the excellent airflow created by the pocket springs)
• The PU slider can be slipped off easily and machine washed at 75°C to maintain its anti-allergenic / anti-bacterial properties.
• Pocket springing will help prevent a simple condition called positional molding, as a result of slight pressure on the back of the skull, sometimes caused because of the correct advice from SIDS which states to sleep babies on their backs.
• Currently there is no other cot mattress in the UK that has all these features and can compare with 'The Excellence plus' for quality and price.
